A fantastic evening of music and art at the London Roundhouse has raised over £40,000 pounds for Bottletop’s projects in the UK and abroad.
Full Circle auction huge success
250 revellers joined host Kwame Kwe-Armah and a host of celebrity guests including Beverley Knight, Colin Firth, and Mariella Frostrup to view works from a range of leading artists, which were then made available for auction.
Among the pieces on display were Dodi Reifenberg’s portrait of Barak Obama made entirely of plastic bags, Anne Carington’s ‘Pearly Queen Of Finsbury’ and a piece by Richard Wright, one of the nominees for this year’s Turner Prize.
Alongside the artwork was a selection of other auction items that included a drumming workshop with Steve White (Paul Weller's legendary drummer), a Strictly Dancing masterclass with Camilla Dallerup and a five-night stay on the unspoilt paradise of Vamizi Island, off the coast of Mozambique.
The crowd were wowed by the musical stylings of Marques Toliver, before soul superstar Beverley Knight ended the evening on a suitably high note with an amazing four song set that sent the assembled guests home in style.
In addition to this, prestigious caterers Dish provided delicious food for the night, while Eco Factory produced a stunning chandelier made of Bottletop bags and belts, which was a talking point for guests all evening.
There was a chance to hear how Bottletop’s work is directly benefiting the lives of people around the world, through both education programs and employment/income generation projects. One of the teens from our UK project partner , Body and Soul gave a moving account of her experiences in discovering that she was HIV positive, and her bravery in speaking of the despair she felt at her diagnosis made a lasting impression. She revealed how the group helped her to realise what a full and active life she could lead, and provide d an inspiration to those bidding throughout the night.
